About this Advisor
Kelly Trevethan began his private wealth management career in 1983 at Bear Stearns & Company. He then moved on to managing The Trevethan Group at Oppenheimer & Co., where he served as a managing director and a member of Oppenheimer & Co's Chairmans Council, a recognition awarded to the firm's top 20 financial advisors. In 2008, he launched Trevethan Capital Partners, now called United Capital of San Francisco. The firm is a division of United Capital Financial Advisers, LLC, which has offices throughout the U.S. Trevethan holds Series 7 and 63 licenses, the general securities representative and uniform securities agent state law exam registrations. He is licensed by the California State Life Insurance Board and is a member of the International Association of Registered Financial Consultants. Trevethan is a graduate of Saint Marys College in Moraga, California, where he earned his bachelors degree in economics in 1985. Trevethan is a fee-based financial advisor. He also acts as an insurance agent and a representative of a registered broker-dealer. He charges his clients roughly 1% of their assets under management, depending on the investment solutions chosen. He requires his clients to have at least $1 million in investable assets. Trevethan specializes in serving business owners, high-net-worth individuals, families, retirees and trusts and estates. Though he primarily serves clients throughout the San Francisco Bay area, he's licensed to act in 20 other states. Trevethan's services include retirement planning, estate planning and wealth management. The biggest investing mistakes he sees people making are chasing performance and not understanding risk. He communicates with his clients monthly and says he strives to bring clarity, control and confidence to his clients to help them manage their financial lives. Outside of his financial advisory work, Trevethan is currently a partner and board member of Alpha Omega Winery. He and his wife, Tiffani, are owners of AXR winery, located at the Historic V Madrone Estate in the town of St. Helena, California. Trevethan, alongside world-renowned winemaker Jean Hoefliger, were co-founders of Speratus Winery, a philanthropic winery project that created educational scholarships for low-income families. Trevethan also sits on the advisory board of Southern California Life Magazine.
